Understanding Health & Wellbeing

Over the past five years, I've become increasingly fascinated by what actually helps us feel and function well. What started as a general curiosity about wellbeing has grown into a much broader interest in how nutrition, movement, the microbiome, lifestyle and other factors interact, and how both the body and mind can be supported as a whole.

Nutrition is a big part of that interest. I'm particularly drawn to learning about the themes of nutrient-dense whole foods, plant diversity, lower-inflammatory eating and the effects different foods can have on the body and microbiome. But my curiosity extends well beyond food to exercise, supplements when needed, the ideas of blue zones, functional lab testing and the many other factors that can influence health such as spending time in the nature and loved ones. I spend a lot of my own time reading research and articles and following new developments, especially when I want to understand not just what is recommended, but why.

My interest in the field was also what led me to work at Ruohonjuuri for around a year and a half. Being surrounded by natural health products, supplements, food and natural cosmetics gave me the opportunity to deepen my knowledge through everyday work, training and product education, while also helping customers make sense of a huge range of options.

Natural products and cosmetics have become another part of the same interest for me, both from a health perspective and because of their relationship with the environment. Overall, I'm fascinated by the many different pieces that contribute to wellbeing and how they fit together.
